About our service and this website
MCN Madison offers paid IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback (MCN) sessions. This website describes a service we provide and have a financial interest in. Its information, images, client stories and clinician comments are for general education. They are not a personal medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
The IASIS i2 system we use is FDA-cleared for relaxation and stress reduction through EEG biofeedback. This clearance does not establish effectiveness for treating the other conditions discussed on this website. View the FDA clearance record
An emerging approach with limited evidence
IASIS MCN is used in clinical practice while research into its benefits, risks and how it works continues. Clinical use does not, by itself, establish that a service is effective or appropriate for a particular condition. Proposed explanations of how MCN works should not be read as settled science.
Published research includes small pilot studies. For example, a 2017 IASIS study involved six people with persistent symptoms after mild traumatic brain injury. Findings from a small study cannot establish what everyone should expect, or be assumed to apply to other conditions. More rigorous research is needed to establish effectiveness, long-term outcomes and who may benefit.
Results are individual
Client stories, clinician observations and manufacturer reports do not establish that MCN caused an improvement or that you will have the same experience. We do not guarantee improvement, a specific outcome or a particular number of sessions. Some people may experience no benefit or unwanted effects. Evidence about other forms of neurofeedback or electrical stimulation does not automatically apply to IASIS MCN.
Your care, your informed choice
Choosing whether to receive MCN is your decision. Before starting, discuss your health history, current care and medications with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Ask about potential benefits, risks, uncertainties, alternatives and costs, including the option of not proceeding. Share relevant health information with us and let us know about any concerns or unwanted changes during or after sessions.
This website does not replace an individual consultation or the informed consent process. Your choice to participate does not remove our responsibility to explain the service honestly and work within our professional scope.
Keep your healthcare team involved
Do not use this website or MCN as a reason to ignore medical advice, delay an evaluation or stop needed care. Do not stop or change medication without speaking with the clinician who prescribes it. Stories about someone reducing medication are not advice for you to do the same.
For a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. Do not wait for a response from MCN Madison.
